Americans constantly deal with the pain associated with school shootings, and Swedish citizens recently experienced a similar heartbreak in the wake of such a disaster. It all started when one masked man entered a school, blasted eerie music, and pulled out a knife.
The fact that these incidents are so rare in Sweden only makes this more difficult to endure.
In between classes at a local school, children spotted a masked man holding a bloody knife.
He was playing Halloween music, so many of the kids took pictures with the killer, thinking that it was just a Halloween prank.
When a teacher confronted him, the intruder stabbed him to death.
He proceded to stab three more students before police shot him.
The 21-year-old lived in the area. During an investigation of his home, police found that he had an obsession with Nazi Germany and posted about the Third Reich often on social media. This would explain the Nazi-esque helmet he sported on the day of his deadly rampage.
This is only Sweden's second school attack in the last 20 years, which seems low by our standards. That's still no comfort to the people whose lives have been changed forever by one senseless act of violence.
