When Sonny Graham received a last minute heart transplant that saved his life, he was, of course, extremely grateful. However, what Graham didn't know was that the heart he'd received would forever change his life. The organ was from a suicide victim and it would eventually lead him to take his own life in almost the exact same manner as the heart's previous owner.

In 1995, Graham (pictured below) was suffering from congestive heart failure. He only had a few months left before his heart would finally give out.

But then, Graham got the call. They finally had a donor that was a match.

The donor was an unknown man who had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a shotgun. After a successful transplant operation, Graham felt compelled to seek out the family of the man who had donated the heart.

That's when Graham met Cheryl, former wife of Terry Cottle...the donor whose heart saved Graham's life.

The two wrote letters back and forth. Eventually, they got married. By all accounts, it was a happy marriage and Graham seemed happy.

One day in April of 2008, Cheryl came home to find Graham in the garage. He was dead...and had committed suicide in the exact same way as her former husband.

He shot himself in the head with a shotgun.

According to researchers, there have been at least 70 verified cases of people's behavior changing dramatically after receiving a donor organ. Graham's case just happens to be the most extreme and tragic.

Some would even say that the heart was cursed.
