It's no secret that the ocean is teeming with a wide variety of terrifying life forms. (Avoiding creepy creatures was probably the main reason why our ancient-ancient ancestors chose to live on dry land.) The most bizarre of those creatures, though, has got to be the jellyfish -- in all of its shapes and sizes. While some species are harmless enough, the stings of others can be shockingly fatal. Other species of jellyfish hardly ever interact with humans and look like something found on an alien world.
The best example of this is the deep water deepstaria enigmatica. This jellyfish is typically found at depths of close to a mile near the poles. While it's unknown whether this creature is harmful to humans, its flowing appearance will take your breath away regardless...video-player-present
Now, that's one giant jellyfish. Good thing most humans won't ever encounter one.
