They Went To Light A Fire, But Stopped Once They Heard Screaming In The Chimney

NOVEMBER 30, 2015  —  By Joe Welkie

If you plan on robbing someone's house, you need to be incredibly precise with your plan of action. Not just anyone can pull off such an elaborate scheme. It takes a lot of time and effort to make sure everything goes according to plan. That could explain why so many would-be thieves fail.

For instance, a burglar in California recently died because of his incredibly boneheaded attempt to rob a family's home. While trying to escape, this burglar climbed into the chimney. When the homeowners returned, they decided to light a fire. The problem with that was that the robber was stuck in there. They heard screaming once they lit the fire, and quickly alerted the authorities while working to extinguish the flames. By that point, however, it was too late.

What an unfortunate end. Don't ever attempt to rob someone, and if you absolutely need to (you don't), avoid trying to escape through the chimney. It probably won't end well.
